For the past 23 years Chef Ferrell Alvarez has been relentlessly honing his craft in the kitchen. Starting as a dishwasher at the age of 15, he has worked diligently every year thereafter to get where he is today. Paying his dues in Cincinnati at several restaurants then moving to Tampa to assume a role as Chef Tournant at Saddlebrook Resort, he later wound up earning a position at Mise en Place under the acclaimed chef, Marty Blitz. There he partnered with GM Ty Rodriguez to take MeP to new heights. After spending 7 years there learning many facets of the business, the duo moved on to open Rooster & the Till. Within the first year R&tT was named Best New Restaurant and Best Chef by Creative Loafing, earned a Golden Spoon from Florida Trend, hosted guest chefs such as Lincoln Carson, Brandon McGlamery and 2016 F&W best new chef, Eduardo Jordan. Lastly, Chef Ferrell Alvarez was just honored as a recipient for a nomination for Best Chef South by the James Beard Foundation.
